GETTING IN
Citizens of EU- and EEA-member states may travel to Hungary without a visa. Family members of citizens of EEA Member States may also travel to Hungary without a visa if they received a residence card issued for family members of EEA citizens or a residence permit issued by any Schengen Member State.
With Personal ID Card
Citizens of the following countries may enter the territory of Hungary with a personal identification card for a stay of maximum 90 days, provided the purpose of their visit is not to take up work or to conduct business-related activities: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland With Passport

Web: www.mfa.gov.hu. GETTING THERE By air Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is 16km south-east of the city centre. It has two terminals: Terminal 1 services low-cost airlines; Terminal 2 is divided between Terminal 2A (the departure and arrival point for flights of Malév Hungarian Airlines) and Terminal 2B (hosting all international carriers’ flights, including some of the budget airlines). For those not driving, taxis or the Airport Minibus (+36 1 50 60 700) will carry passengers to and from any part of Budapest. Web: www.airportshuttle.hu Fly Balaton Airport, located in Sármellék at the western shore of Lake Balaton, meets the international airport rules of the EU and allows international border crossing, receives scheduled and charter flights, as well as small planes. Web: www.fly-balaton.com Airport Debrecen meets EU standards and international requirements and is completely equipped to handle both civilian and commercial traffic on a regular basis. It is situated 2.5km from the centre of Debrecen and thanks to the highly developed road and rail connections, the airport can serve as an intermediary logistics centre. More than 30 trains a day provide direct links between Budapest and no fewer than 25 other European cities. Trains to Vienna run every three hours. There is also a popular network of inter-city trains linking Budapest with the main Hungarian cities. International trains operate from the three largest stations. All the bigger Hungarian towns have a developed public transportation system, in the form of bus and tram lines. Towns are also investing in the development of bike routes, which can help the movement of participants to be a greener, faster and fun solution. Discounted Budapest transport ticket for events and festivals The Municipality of Budapest introduced a discounted public transport ticket system for participants of conferences, sport events and cultural programmes. Two ticket types are available: one is valid before and after the event for 2 hours for twice the price of the normal ticket, the other enables travel over multiple days. A hydrofoil service operates during the summer months (May—October) linking the heart of Budapest with Vienna and Bratislava. International boat landing stages are situated on the Danube between the Chain Bridge and the Liberty Bridge. All Hungary’s motorways and most of the main roads radiate from the capital. The M1, M3, M5, M6 and M7 are toll motorways. Road signs conform to continental standards. 24-hour emergency roadside assistance is available from the Magyar Autóklub by dialling 188.
